From 3 February 1438 until the present, Ralph, Lord Cromwell , has occupied and taken the profits from two parts of the castle and manor of Wressle, by virtue of letters patent of that date [CPR 1436–41, p. 165], shown to the jurors, granting him this for life. The king has continued to occupy and take the profits from the remaining third part as well as from the other two manors.
