They had issue Roger. Robert died and Margaret married John Eylesford, knight . He and Margaret by a charter dated 9 Sept. 1396 granted the manors to Roger, rendering 100 marks by equal parts at Easter and Michaelmas, with licence to distrain, re-entering and taking the crops, if in arrears by a quarter year. Widmerpool is held of the king of the honor of Peverel by knight service, Gonalston of the same, service unknown, annual value together beyond the rent 100 marks.

Holdings

By letters patent of 5 July 1413 [CPR 1413–6, p.55] the king granted that he might enfeoff William Ferebrigg, clerk , John Quynt, chaplain , and Henry Gandre, chaplain , in the manor of Blythburgh, to hold to them and regrant to Roger and Joan his wife for the term of their lives with remainder to John, Roger’s son. Accordingly by his charter dated 14 Sept. 1413 he granted them the manor, except for the villeins: Richard Haliday of Blythburgh, John son of Adam Haliday of the same, John Fretherich of Maldon, John Ladde of Hinton, Thomas Hasent of the same, John Joye of Walberswick, Geoffrey Blithburgh , Robert Newere and Stephen Nicoll of the same, Robert Carlwayn , John Carlwayn his brother, and all other villeins of the manor. William Ferebrigg and the others regranted the manor to Roger and Joan his wife for their lives with remainder to John his son and his heirs male. He also held in fee and right the villeins of the manor. The manor is held of the king in chief by knight service, annual value 20 marks.

He held 1 messuage in the priory of Blythburgh jointly with Joan for their lives by the grant of the prior and convent with reversion to them, service unknown, annual value 12d., and 1 messuage and 1 1/2 a. in Blythburgh of the heirs of Robert Ufford, knight , service unknown, annual value 2s.

He also held for life the manors of Yoxford, Stikingland, Middleton, Brandeston and Murrills by the grant of Henry Fitzhugh, lord of Ravensworth , Richard Norton , Thomas Derham and Richard Danyell, parson of Swillington by their charter shown to the jurors, as above [no. 791]. Yoxford, Middleton and Stickingland are held of John, Earl Marshal , by knight service, Brandeston of James Joos by knight service and Murrills of William Bowet , service unknown; annual value of all together nil because burdened with a rent of 100 marks payable by equal parts at Martinmas and Whitsun to Margaret widow of John Eynesford [sic ] for her life.
