Edward II , with assent of the prelates, earls, and barons, and with the authority of parliament then assembled at York, by letters patent dated at York, 1 December 1318 [CPR 1317–21, p. 248], shown to the jurors, granted to Roger Damory , and Elizabeth his wife, the king’s dearest niece, and the heirs of the body of Roger, among other things the manor of Holton, with knights’ fees, advowsons of churches, and other appurtenances. Roger and Elizabeth were seised by form of the grant. They continued their estate and possession for their whole lives, and died seised of such estate. After their deaths the manor descended by form of the grant to Elizabeth, daughter and heir of the body of Roger. She married John Bardolf , and they had issue: William Bardolf , and died. After their deaths the manor descended to William as son and heir of the bodies of John and Elizabeth. He had issue: Thomas Bardolf , and died. After his death the manor descended to Thomas as son and heir of the body of William by form of the grant. Thomas had issue: Anne, late wife of William Clyfford, knight , and Joan, named in the writ, late wife of William Phelip , whom Henry VI created lord Bardolf. Thomas died, and after his death the manor descended to Anne and Joan, as daughters and heirs of his body. They were seised of the manor and continued their possession for their whole lives. William Phelip and Joan had issue: Elizabeth, married to John, viscount Beaumont . John and Elizabeth had issue: William Beaumont , now lord Bardolf. Elizabeth died, and William Phelip and Joan died seised of such estate in possession of the ½ manor by form of the grant.

Edward I was seised of the manor of Watton at Stone in demesne as of fee. By letters patent [CChR, III, 48], dated at Burstwick, 28 November 1304, shown to the jurors, he granted the manor among other things to Isabel, late wife of Hugh Bardolf , for the term of her life, with remainder to William, son of Isabel, and the heirs of his body, and with reversion to the right heirs of Isabel. Isabel was to hold the manor as fully as when it was taken into the king’s hand after the death of the above Hugh. Isabel was seised in demesne of as free tenement. She died, and after her death William was seised in demesne as of fee tail by form of the grant. He had issue: Thomas Bardolf , and died. After his death, Thomas was seised in demesne as of fee tail by form of the grant. He had issue: John, and died. After his death John was seised in demesne as of fee tail by form of the grant. He had issue: William, and died. After his death William was seised in demesne as of fee tail by form of the grant. He had issue: Thomas, and died. After his death Thomas was seised in demesne as of fee tail by form of the grant. He had issue: Anne, late wife of William Clyfford, knight , and Joan, named in the writ, late wife of William Phelip, late lord Bardolf . Thomas died, and after his death William, Anne, William, and Joan were seised in demesne as of fee tail, in right of Anne and Joan, by form of the grant. William Phelip and Joan had issue: Elizabeth, whom John, viscount Beaumont took to wife. They had issue: William, now lord Bardolf. William Clyfford , William Phelip , and Elizabeth died. Joan survived them and held the ½ manor in the above form by virtue of the grant.

Afterwards the queen died. After her death William, Anne, William, and Joan entered the manor by virtue of the letters patent. They continued their estate for their whole lives.
