John and Margaret, Ralph, Edmund, and William held the manors and reversions to them and the heirs of the body of John, with remainder to the right heirs of John, by grant of Thomas Hunt, senior , of Newcastle-under-Lyme, to hold of the chief lords of the fee by due service. John Delves had recently granted them to Thomas. Every tenant attorned to John, Margaret, Ralph, Edmund, and William Lee . The manors and reversions were described in the grant as the manors of Apedale, Knutton, Hilderstone, Whitmore, Dimsdale, Hanford, Little Clayton, Audley, and Delves; and the reversions were described as all those messuages, lands, and tenements in Hilderstone, Whitmore, and Dimsdale that John Brow and Anne his wife hold for the life of Anne; all those messuages, lands, and tenements that Roger Baban holds for life in Knutton; all those messuages, lands, and tenements that James Theknes holds for life in Knutton; all those messuages, lands, and tenements that John Holwey holds for life in Knutton; all those lands and tenements that John Bower holds for life in Betley; all those messuages, lands, and tenements that John Brenner holds for life in Audley; and all those messuages, lands, and tenements that Richard Byrkes holds for life in Delves.
Apedale, the manor. The site is worth nothing yearly. There are 200 a. arable, each acre worth 6d. yearly; 100 a. wood, each acre worth 4d. yearly; and 40 a. meadow, each acre worth 6d. yearly.
Audley, 6 messuages, each containing 20 a. land, each acre worth 4d. yearly; a cottage, worth nothing yearly; and a toft, worth 2d. yearly.
The manor of Apedale and the messuages, cottage, and toft in Audley are held of James, Lord Audley , service unknown.
Knutton, the manor, held of the king as of his duchy of Lancaster as of his manor of Newcastle-under-Lyme by knight service and £4 11s. 9d. rent. There are 100 a. arable, each acre worth 6d. yearly; 20 a. meadow, each acre worth 8d. yearly; and 6 messuages, each worth 10s. yearly.
Hilderstone, the manor, held of Humphrey, earl of Stafford , service unknown. There are 60 a. land, each acre worth 6d. yearly; 20 a. meadow, each acre worth 6d. yearly; 200 a. heath, each acre worth ½d. yearly; and 4 messuages, each worth 12s. yearly.
Dimsdale, 3 bovates, [each] containing 10 a. land, each acre worth 4d. yearly, held of the king as of the duchy of Lancaster as of the manor of Newcastle-under-Lyme in socage.
He was lately seised in demesne as of fee of
the manor of Crakemarsh, held of the king as of the duchy of Lancaster as of the honour of Tutbury by knight service.
He granted it, described as all his messuages, lands and tenements, rents, and services in the vill and demesne of Crakemarsh by Uttoxeter, to John Bulkeley of Word , and William Wall, chaplain, and to their heirs and assigns in perpetuity, to hold of the chief lords of that fee by due service. The grant was made by a charter shown to the jurors.

He died on 27 April 1429. Richard Delves is his son and next heir, and was aged 13 and more on 15 May last.
