Holdings
He held in his demesne as of fee to him and the heirs of his body the manor of Brinsley and 3 messuages and 10 bovates in Trowell and a mediety of the advowson of the church, a windmill, 1/3 water-mill and 13s. 4d. in the same township which John del Ker and Thomas de Soleston, chaplain , granted to Robert de Bronnesleye , his wife Elizabeth and the heirs of their bodies, remainder to the right heirs of Robert. Robert and Elizabeth had issue John de Bronnesley and died seised. The manor descended to John, who married Margery Fitzharberd and had issue Joan who married Robert Broune . After Margery's death John married Isabel Prentys and had issue William de Brynnesley . John died seised and the manor etc. descended to John son and heir of William, a minor, who died without issue on 31 Oct. last. The manor etc. ought to descend to Joan wife of Robert Broune as daughter and heir of John de Bronnesley son of Robert and Elizabeth according to the form of the gift. Joan is aged 35 years. There are in the manor the site, annual value nil, 10 bovates each worth 4s. yearly; 3 messuages, annual value 6s.; the 10 bovates in Trowell are worth yearly 2s. each; the windmill, annual value nil because ruinous and empty; 1/3 water-mill, annual value nil because completely ruinous. The manor etc. are held of the king in chief of the honor of Peverel by service of providing a horse worth 5s., a sack with provisions and a goad for 40 days for the king's army during war in Wales, by render of 3s. 4d. yearly at the Exchequer by the sheriff of Nottingham at the Annunciation and Michaelmas in equal portions, and of 36s. 8d. at the same terms for the messuages, land, 1/3 windmill and rent in Trowell.
William named in the writ died on 15 Sept. last.
