He was seised in his demesne as of fee tail of 1/3 manor of Drax held of the king in chief by service of 1/3 knight's fee. There are in the 1/3 a capital messuage; 2 cottages; a ruinous windmill now mostly down, annual value nil; 149 a. arable, annual value 26s. 8d.; £13 assize rents from various free tenants in Drax and its soke, i.e. in Drax, Newland, Airmyn, Rusholme, Scurff and Langrick; a rent from free tenants in those townships of 32 hens worth 2d. each and 120 eggs worth 4d. a hundred; and a yearly rent of 10s. 7 1/2d. called `mylne male' from Drax, Scurff, Rusholme and Airmyn. He was also seised of 2 tofts, 2 bovates, 82 a. arable and 1 a. meadow in Carlton, annual value 5 marks, held of the king in chief for 1/34 knight's fee; 2 messuages and 20 a. arable in Carlton, annual value 10s., held of Brian son of Brian de Stapilton, knight , a minor in the king's wardship, for 12d. yearly at Easter and Michaelmas; a toft, completely wasted, in Snaith, held of the heirs of John Waryner , service unknown; and a wood of 12 a. in Hensall held of John Dawnay of his lordship of Great Heck, service unknown. The wood was all cut down last year and carried away in Richard's lifetime.
He died on 24 Dec. last. John Lely is his son and next heir, aged 30 years and more.
