He held no lands or tenements of the king in chief or of any others, in demesne or in service. Long before his death, described as John Tatersall of London, ‘gentilman’, by charter dated at Wanstead, 15 November 1437, he granted the following to Robert Est of Kent, ‘gentilman’, and his heirs and assigns, so that he was seised in demesne as of fee. The charter was shown to the jurors. Thus seised, by charter dated at Wanstead, 25 November 1437, Robert granted the manor and advowson to the said John Tatersall – described as above – John Chichele of London, ‘gentilman’, and Nicholas Misterton of Lincolnshire, ‘gentilman’, and the heirs of John Tatersall .
