He held no lands or tenements of the king in chief or of any others, in demesne or in service. Long before his death, described as John Tatersall of London, ‘gentilman’, by charter dated at Wanstead, 15 November 1437, he granted the following to Robert Est of Kent, ‘gentilman’, and his heirs and assigns, so that he was seised in demesne as of fee. The charter was shown to the jurors. Thus seised, by charter dated at Wanstead, 25 November 1437, Robert granted the manor and advowson to the said John Tatersall – described as above – John Chichele of London, ‘gentilman’, and Nicholas Misterton of Lincolnshire, ‘gentilman’, and the heirs of John Tatersall . John Chichele and Nicholas Misterton survive. Wanstead, the manor, with the advowson of the church of the manor, annual value £10, held of the bishop of London, of his castle of Bishop’s Stortford, by knight service.
He died on 21 January 1447. John Tatersall is his son and next heir, aged 6 and more. [Head:] Delivered to court on 30 October 1447.

He was seised in demesne as of fee, together with the venerable lord and father in Christ, Henry, late archbishop of Canterbury, now deceased, and Thomas Chichele, archdeacon of Canterbury , John Brykhed, clerk , Richard Sturgeon of London, ‘gentilman’, and William Myrfyn, clerk , of the manors of ‘Welhawe’ and ‘Esthoorne’, with their appurtenances in the vills and parishes of Eltham, Mottingham, Bexley, Kidbrooke, and Chislehurst; of the lands and tenements called ‘Fulkeslondes’ and ‘Berowes’; and of all the lands and tenements which Robert Mirfyn , Nicholas Dyxson, clerk , William Estfeld , Thomas Stokdale , John Norton , William Aleyn , and John Feryby lately acquired from John Foxholes, clerk , William Basket and Alice his wife, and John Basket , by fine in the king’s court at Westminster, in the octave of Hilary, 1429 [CP 25/1/114/302/211]. This appears by a charter to John Tatersall , Henry, Thomas Chichele , John Brykhed , Richard, and William Myrfyn , and the heirs and assigns of John Tatersall and Henry. The charter, shown to the jurors, was dated at Eltham, 3 February 1439. By virtue of the charter John Tatersall and Henry were seised in demesne as of fee and the others in demesne as of free tenement. John Tatersall and Henry died seised of such estate. After their deaths Thomas, John, Richard, and William were solely seised by right of survivorship, and still hold their estate. The above manors, lands, and tenements are held of the king in socage, of the manor of Eltham, by service of 73s. 4½d. yearly, and are truly worth 20 marks yearly. He was seised of the following in demesne as of fee, together with Agnes his wife, the daughter of John Chichele of London, ‘grocer’, as appears by a charter to them and their heirs and assigns, shown to the jurors, dated at Woolwich, 7 August 1436. John Tatersall afterwards died seised of such estate. Agnes was solely seised by right of survivorship, and by virtue of her estate she still holds the manor. Woolwich, the manor, with its appurtenances in the vills of Woolwich, Greenwich, Dartford, and Combe, true annual value 10 marks, held of the king in socage, of the manor of Eltham, by service of 30s. yearly. He was seised of the following in demesne as of fee, together with Robert East of Maidstone, ‘gentilman’, and Thomas Scot, citizen and draper of London. This appears by a charter to them and the heirs and assigns of John, shown to the jurors, dated at Westerham, 21 May 1445, by virtue of which John was seised in demesne as of fee, and Robert and Thomas in demesne as of free tenement. John died seised of such estate. After his death Robert and Thomas were solely seised by right of survivorship, and are still seised. Gaysham, a tenement so-called in the parish of Westerham, true annual value 26s. 8d., held of the abbot of Westminster , service unknown. He was seised of the following in demesne as of fee, together with Agnes his wife, John Chichele , Richard Sturgeon , and Robert East , as appears in a fine in the king’s court at Westminster, on the morrow of Martinmas, 1443 [CP 25/1/115/317/593], to them and the heirs of John Tatersall . By virtue of the fine this John was seised in demesne as of fee, and Agnes, John Chichele , Richard, and Robert in demesne as of free tenement. John Tatersall died seised of such estate. Afterwards the others were solely seised by right of survivorship and still are seised. Woolwich, Plumstead, and Charlton, a moiety of 12 messuages, 3 tofts, 140 a. land, 12 a. meadow, 24 a. marsh, 166 a. wood, and of 13s. rent, true annual value 10 marks, held of the king in socage, of the manor of Eltham, by service of 15s. yearly.
He died on 18 January last. Heir as 510, here aged 5 and more. [Head:] Delivered to court on 13 July.
