JOHN SON OF JOHN TERYNGHAM AND ELEANOR

BUCKINGHAMSHIRE. Proof of age. Tyringham 26 July 1432. [Hamden].
John Gorgh , 55 and more, sworn and examined on the age of John Teryngham , says that he was born at Tyringham, baptised in the church of St Peter there, and is 21 years of age and more. Asked how he knows, he says that he was valet to John Teryngham , father, and was sent at dawn with a great buck to John Reynes, knight , then staying at Clifton Reynes . As soon as he returned on the same day, he was told that the lady had given birth. Thomas Payn , 50 and more, says that John Payn, chaplain and his brother, suddenly died on the day that John Teryngham was born. Nicholas Forster , 45 and more, says that Katherine his daughter, still living, was born and baptised on the day that John Teryngham was born and baptised. William Parache , 49 and more, was hired by John Teryngham to build a great chamber at his dwelling at Tyringham when John son of John was born. William Jones , 46 and more, says that Agnes now his wife was in service to John Teryngham when John son of John was born. William married Agnes within ½ year of the birth. Walter Fyssher , 60 and more, was parish clerk when John was born, and was in the church when he was baptised. John Bowles , 50 and more, had a daughter named Beatrice born on the day that John was born. Thomas Tylly , 44 and more, bought timber from John Teryngham at Tyringham, on the day that John son of John was born, for a building at Filgrave. John Walker , 63 and more, sent William his son to the university at Cambridge with the consent of John Teryngham immediately after the birth of John son of John. John Teryngham gave William 20s. Thomas Roo , 47 and more, says that his barn was struck by lightening and caught fire immediately after the birth of John. William Esthall , 57 and more, was in the church when John was baptised, and the day of his birth was also written in great book called a missal. John Bolter , 51 and more, bought a messuage and 6 a. land at Buckingham from John Ferrour of Buckingham immediately after the birth of John.
