ROBERT BROTHER OF WILLIAM KYRKHAM

Regarding his inheritance as brother of William Kyrkham brother of John Kyrkham , late husband of Isabel Kyrkham . Isabel held certain lands and tenements for life from the inheritance of William by grant of William Hankeford, knight , and others to John and Isabel, and to the heirs of John. The lands were held by knight service of the bishopric of Exeter, lately sede vacante. Its lands thus came to the hands of ‪ Henry V and William died a minor in the wardship of the same king. The lands and tenements are in the custody of John Dabernoun , still living, to whom and to William Hankeford and Richard Hankeford , now deceased, the lands and tenements that were of Isabel were committed by letters patent of Henry VI [CFR 1413–1422, p. 350]. Inform John Dabernoun of the forthcoming proof of age.

Robert Lytelton , aged 60 years and more, sworn and diligently examined on the age of Robert Kyrkham , swears that Robert was born at Peynton Episcopi , baptised in the church there, and was 21 years of age and more on the vigil of St Laurence last. He knows because Joan his daughter was born on the same day as Robert. William Werthe , 46 and more, was present when Robert was baptised. Richard Yerde , 47 and more, knows because Joan his daughter died on the same day that Robert was born. William Bysshop , 51 and more, married Katherine daughter of Robert Serle . Henry Person , 45 and more, was riding to Dartmoor when he encountered thieves who robbed him. Baldwin Vyell , 48 and more, was going to the church when he fell over a large stone and broke his right arm. William Wollecomb , 49 and more, knows because Katherine Smyth , godmother of Robert Kyrkham , gave 10s. to Robert in the presence of William. William Blenche , 52 and more, met Robert Lytelton , godfather, at the end of the vill on the day that Robert was born and there fell into a ditch where he almost drowned. John Bilhole, junior , 58 and more, held a torch in the church when Robert was raised from the font. Thomas Loveborde , 60 and more, had a son named Robert born and baptised on the day that Robert Kyrkham was born. John Moryston , 53 and more, carried water to the church where Robert was baptised on the day of the baptism. Richard Boure , 54 and more, was in the church and made an offering of 1d. for the soul of Katherine his mother, buried on the day that Robert Kyrkham was baptised.
