Whitwell, the manor with advowson of two parts of the church there, held as 1/6 knight’s fee. There are ruinous buildings, worth nothing yearly above maintenance; a wood, its herbage and underwood worth 6s. 8d. yearly above the keeper’s fee; 100 a. arable demesne, each acre worth 2d. yearly; 10 a. meadow, each acre worth 12d. yearly; 400 a. exhausted pasture, worth 2s. yearly; 8 messuages and 80 a. land, each messuage with 10 a. land worth 6s. 8d. yearly; 3 cottages, each worth 20d. yearly; and 22s. 9d. free rent taken from free tenants at Lady Day and the Nativity of Mary by equal parts.
The advowson is worth nothing yearly above prayers.
Barlborough, 1 croft and 92 a. land, worth 6s. 8d. yearly;
Cresswell, ½ water-mill, worth 13s. 4d. yearly; and
Belph, 3s. 4d. free rent taken from free tenants at Lady Day and the Nativity of Mary by equal parts,
held as 1/10 knight’s fee.
He died on 1 October last. Ranulph Rye is his son and next heir, and aged 7 and more.
