Holdings
He held the following in demesne as of fee.
Ripon, 6 messuages, each worth 2s. yearly, 7 tofts, each worth 2d. yearly, 2 a. land, each acre worth 6d. yearly, and 3 roods of meadow, each rood worth 4d. yearly, held of the archbishop of York , service unknown. Payment from the farmers is at the usual terms, Martinmas and Pentecost, by equal parts.
Long before his death and by indented charter dated Ripon 29 May 1417, sealed with his arms and shown to the jurors, where he is described as Ralph Nevell, earl of Westmorland , he granted the following for life to William Tanfield , still living, described as William Tanfield of Ripon, with reversion to the earl and his heirs and assigns.
Ripon, a messuage and 5 tenements where various tenants live: John Glover , Margaret Clerk , William Watson , Isota Skynner, and John Hert ; 7 a. land and meadow, described as a messuage in Ripon in Stonebridgegate, lying between the tenement formerly of Ralph Pygote on the north and the tenement of the earl on the south, then in the tenure of John Dalle ; 7 a. land and meadow lying in various places in the field there; and 4 cottages which are divided into two tenements. Two of these cottages lie in Stonebridgegate on ‘Sketryg’, the third lies opposite the messuage, and the fourth is in Low Skelgate. This is all held of the archbishop , service unknown
, and should revert to Ralph, present earl of Westmorland , after the death of William Tanfield . Ralph is kin and heir of Ralph, late earl , as the son of John son of Ralph. The late earl held nothing here except by reversion.

Ralph, present earl , is his kin and next heir, and aged 21 years and more.
