MARGERY WIFE OF WILLIAM TYLL

Peter de Beltoft was lately seised of the following in demesne as of fee.
Azerley, 10 messuages, 12 tofts, and 6 cottages, worth nothing yearly; 16 gardens, each worth 4d. yearly; 18 bovates of arable, each worth 2s. yearly; 20 a. meadow, each acre worth 12d. yearly; 500 a. pasture, each acre worth ½d. yearly; and 30s. assize rent delivered by free tenants, payable at Martinmas and Pentecost by equal parts, held of ‪ Edward III as 1/20 knight’s fee.
He granted the above, described as the manor of Azerley, to Margery and to the heirs of her body by Thomas de Beltoft son of Peter de Beltoft . Thomas died with Margery still living. She then married Richard de Morton of Scotton and, for 100s. paid by Richard and Margery, the king pardoned them by letters patent dated 15 January 1376 for Margery’s entry into the manor without royal licence [CPR 1374–1377, p. 215]. The letters were shown to the jurors.

She died on 14 July last. Katherine lately wife of Robert Sheffeld and Maud wife of Nicholas Dalyson are her daughters and next heirs. They are respectively aged 40 and more and 38 and more.n014 Katherine is daughter of Thomas and Margery, and Maud is daughter of Richard and Margery.

West Butterwick, 2 messuages, 2 tofts, and 2 crofts, worth nothing yearly; 36 a. arable, each acre worth 2d. yearly; 17 a. meadow, each acre worth 12d. yearly; 8 a. pasture, each acre worth 1d. yearly; and one several fishery in the Trent, worth 20d. yearly, held of Thomas Sheffeld , service unknown; and 20s. rent-seck payable at Martinmas and Pentecost by equal parts.
East Butterwick, a fishery in the Trent, annual value 18d., held of William Beauchamp , service unknown.
Low Burnham, a messuage and dovecot, worth nothing yearly; and 1 a. arable, worth 2d. yearly, held of Thomas Sheffeld , service unknown.
Crosby, a messuage and windmill, worth nothing yearly; and 1 bovate of arable, worth 16d. yearly, held of Thomas Boys , service unknown.

Thomas Burnham and John Westethorpp, chaplain , were lately seised in demesne as of fee of the manor of Scotton. They granted it to Richard de Morton and Margery, and to the heirs of their bodies. Richard died with Margery still living.
Scotton, the manor. There are 14 messuages, 12 tofts, and 8 crofts, worth nothing yearly; 200 a. arable, each acre worth 2d. yearly; 114 a. meadow, each acre worth 6d. yearly; 12 a. wood, worth nothing yearly; 80 a. pasture and moor, each acre worth 1d. yearly; 13s. assize rent, delivered by free tenants in East Ferry, Scotton, Northorpe, and Grasby, payable at Martinmas and Pentecost by equal parts; and rent of 1lb of pepper, delivered by free tenants in Northorpe, payable at Martinmas. Of the lands and tenements of the manor, 110 a. arable, 90 a. meadow, 20 a. pasture, and 2s. 11d. rent are held of the king as of his honour of Bolingbroke, parcel of his duchy of Lancaster, as 1/20 knight’s fee. The rest is held of Thomas de Beltoft , service unknown.

Date of death and heirs as 69, although without mention of Katherine as daughter of Thomas.
