Holdings
He held no lands or tenements of the king or another. Long before his death he was seised in his demesne as of fee of the following, with which he enfeoffed the same feoffees as in 122 on condition that they perform his will that they should enfeoff William his first-born son and the heirs of his body, with the manor of Catton and the lands and tenements in Walton, successive remainders to William’s brother John and the heirs of his body, to John’s brother Thomas and the heirs of his body, and if Thomas died without such heirs then the feoffees or their heirs should sell the manor and lands for the best possible price and distribute the proceeds in divine service and alms for the souls of Roger, his family and all the deceased faithful. Also that the feoffees should enfeoff Thomas, Roger’s younger son, and the heirs of his body, with the manor of Brizlincote, successive remainders to William his first-born son and the heirs of his body and to William’s brother John and the heirs of his body, with the sale of the manor as above. This is clear more fully in the indenture of his will sealed with his seal and shown to the jurors. The feoffees are still seised.
Date of death and heir as in 121.
