He was seised of the following in demesne as of fee.
Harrowby, the manor, held of the king in chief by knight service. The site of the manor is worth nothing yearly. In the manor there are 6 enclosures, each worth 3s. yearly; 200 a. arable, each acre worth 4d. yearly; 16 a. meadow, each acre worth 6d. yearly; and 32s. assize rent, payable at Christmas, Easter, Midsummer, and Michaelmas, issuing from various lands and tenements held of John as of the manor in Harrowby, Barkston, Belton, Great or Little Gonerby, and Grantham.
Donsthorp’, the manor, held of Richard, duke of York , service unknown. The site of the manor is worth nothing yearly. In the manor there are 120 a. arable, each acre worth 2d. yearly; 20 a. meadow, each acre worth 6d. yearly; a warren, worth 3s. 4d. yearly; and 20s. 4d. assize rent, payable at the above feasts, issuing from various lands and tenements held of John as of the manor in ‘Donsthorp’, Great or Little Gonerby, and Grantham.
Great or Little Gonerby, the manor, of whom held or by what service not known. The site of the manor is worth nothing yearly. In the manor there are 3 messuages, each worth 2s. yearly; 5 tofts, each worth 6d. yearly; a dovecot, worth 20d. yearly; 100 a. arable, each acre worth 3d. yearly; 20 a. meadow, each acre worth 4d. yearly; 10 a. pasture, each acre worth 4d. yearly; and 3s. 4d. assize rent, payable at the above feasts, issuing from lands and tenements held of John as of the manor in Great or Little Gonerby.

He died on 27 October 1446. Alice is his daughter and next heir, aged 4 and more.

Thomas Staunton, esquire , received the issues of the manor of Harrowby from the time of John’s death until the taking of this inquisition, by virtue of royal letters patent [CPR1446–52, p. 7], shown to the jurors, dated at Westminster, 18 November 1446, concerning the custody of all lands and tenements held by John, and the marriage of his daughter Alice, without rendering anything to the king. Richard Salteby of Grantham received the issues of the manors of ‘Donsthorp’ and Great or Little Gonerby from the time of John’s death, title unknown.
