He died on 27 October 1446. Alice is his daughter and next heir, aged 4 and more.

of John’s death until the taking of this inquisition, by virtue of royal letters patent [CPR1446–52, p. 7], shown to the jurors, dated at Westminster, 18 November 1446, concerning the custody of all lands and tenements held by John, and the marriage of his daughter Alice, without rendering anything to the king.
