Holdings
He held the following in demesne as of fee. Westcott,
a messuage containing 20 feet in length and 24 feet in breadth, annual value 8d., held of ‪ Henry V in chief as 1/20 knight’s fee; and
a messuage with a virgate of land, annual value 8s., held of Alice Fernham and her heirs and assigns by paying 6s. 8d. at Michaelmas and Easter.

He died on 26 July 1414. Margaret Coppyng , now the wife of Richard Coppyng , is his sister and next heir, aged 50 and more.

The following occupied the messuages and virgate and received the issues from the time of John’s death, by what title the jurors do not know: John Edyngdon, butcher , from the day of death until 19 June 1419; John Palmer of Swindon (Heyswyndon), ‘gentilman’, from then until 24 May 1434; and Richard Merifale of Langley in Berkshire, ‘yoman’, from then until the taking of this inquisition. They refuse to give the issues to the escheator, whence they are to answer to the king.
