Joan de Bohun, late countess of Hereford , William Marny, knight , John Howard, knight , Robert Neuport , John Costantyn , and William Hanyngfeld were seised of the following in demesne as of fee. By charter they granted the manors to Robert de Teye – father of John de Teye – and Joan Wytherton his wife for the term of their lives, saving the reversion to themselves and their heirs, so that Robert and Joan were seised therein in demesne as of free tenement. After the death of the countess, William, Robert, John Costantyn and William, the reversion pertained to John Howard and his heirs alone. Robert de Teye died, and Joan, seised of the manors, married Richard Wytherton, esquire . In the charter the manors were described as his manors of Ardleigh, Marks Tey, and Birch Holt, and John de Teye was described as John de Teye , son of Robert de Teye, esquire . By reason of this grant Richard Wytherton and Joan attorned themselves to John de Teye and the others, and by reason of the grant and attornment the reversion pertained to John and the others.
