To be assigned in the presence of the next friends of Edmund Hastynges , son and heir of John, or their attorneys [CClR 1441–47, p. 14]. Edmund is a minor in the king’s wardship.

[Dorse:] I, the escheator, by virtue of the writ, have taken the oath of Elizabeth who was wife of John Hastynges that she will not marry without royal licence.
