Regarding CIPM XXIII, no. 93, an inquisition taken in 1428. Inquire as to who held the manors of Berrylands and Malshanger of Richard.

John Grauefelde held the manor of Berrylands in Surrey of Richard as of Richard’s manor of Stanwell in Middlesex as 1/4 knight’s fee and by service of 20d. rendered every 24 weeks to Richard and his heirs, of which Richard was seised in demesne as of fee.
Robert Dyneley held the manor of Malshanger in Hampshire of Richard as of his manor of Stanwell as a knight’s fee and by service of 6s. 8d. rendered every 24 weeks to Richard and his heirs and assigns, of which Richard was seised in demesne as of fee.

William Danvers held the following of Richard, parcels of Richard’s manor of Stanwell in Middlesex.
Chilton, a knight’s fee by service of 6s. 8d. every 24 weeks to Richard and his heirs.
Wokefield, 1/2 knight’s fee by service of 3s. 4d. every 24 weeks to Richard and his heirs.
Coldridge or Coleridge (Colrugge), 1/2 knight’s fee by service of 3s. 4d. every 24 weeks to Richard and his heirs.
The total
rent of 13s. 4d., called ‘Wardesiluer’, is worth nothing yearly

the manor held by the prior of New Place , Guildford , of Richard as a knight’s fee and by service of the rent, payable to Richard and his heirs, parcel as above.

Berrylands, 20d. annual rent, called ‘Wardesyluere’, taken every 24 weeks from
the manor held by John Grauesend of Richard as 1/4 knight’s fee and by service of the rent
, payable to Richard and his heirs, parcel as above.
The total annual rent of 25s. from the manors of Peper Harow, Hurtmore, Bagshot, Eastbury, Down, and Berrylands is worth nothing yearly because it is paid by Richard and his heirs in castleward at Windsor, as parcel of the service due for the manor of Stanwell.

Since Richard’s death, the rent has been taken continuously by John, archbishop of York , William Scot, esquire , and Thomas Haseley by royal letters patent [CFR 1422–30, p. 214]; and they are thus answerable to the king.

He died on 25 April 1428. Miles Wyndesore , his son and next heir, is aged 21 years and more.
