Holdings
He was lately seised of the following manor, etc., in demesne as of fee, which he granted to Nicholas Ampton, clerk , Robert Hemmyng and Thomas Thankerede and their heirs and assigns. They were thus seised in demesne as of fee and granted the manor and tenements to John Straunge and Alice his wife, John Howard, knight , William Paston , Thomas Fulthorp , John Harliston , Thomas Milde , Richard Doket and John Austyn , still living, to have to them and their assigns during the lives of John Straunge and Alice his wife, remainder wholly to John Howard , William, Thomas Fulthorp , John, Thomas, Richard and John Austyn and their heirs and assigns. By virtue of this, John Straunge and Alice, John Howard , William, Thomas Fulthorp , John, Thomas, Richard and John Austyn were seised in demesne as of fee, and they continued in this estate for the whole of John Straunge ’s life.
Thorpe Morieux, the manor, together with the advowson of the church and a tenement called ‘Gorges’, two tenements in Hitcham, one called ‘Verdons’ and the other ‘Astones’, and a tenement in Brettenham called ‘Coldhams’, annual value 20 marks, held of the king as of his duchy of Lancaster as 1/2 knight’s fee.
He was seised of the following manors, etc., in demesne as of fee as above, which he granted to John Munnyng, clerk , Robert Hemmyng and Thomas Thankerede and their heirs and assigns. They were thus seised in demesne as of fee and granted the manor and tenements to John Straunge and Alice his wife, John Howard, knight , William Paston , Thomas Fulthorp , John Harliston , Thomas Milde , Richard Doket and John Austyn , to have to them and their assigns during the lives of John Straunge and Alice his wife, remainder wholly to John Howard , William, Thomas Fulthorp , John, Thomas, Richard and John Austyn and their heirs and assigns. John Straunge and Alice, John Howard etc. [as above] were seised in demesne as of fee, and they continued in this estate for the whole of John Straunge ’s life. John Straunge thus held the manors, etc., jointly with Alice, John Howard , etc. [as above], at the time of his death.
Felsham, the manors of Brook Hall and Maiden Hall, with the advowson of the church of Felsham, annual value 20 marks, held of [the abbot of] Bury St Edmunds, service unknown at present.

He died on 26 October last. Roger, his son and next heir, is aged 24 years and more.

He held the following manor jointly with Alice his wife, still living, by grant of William Phelipp, knight , Oliver Groos , Thomas Derham , John Mannyng , William Lexham , Abel Leuermere , William Norwich , Thomas Baxster, chaplain , Robert Wylly , John Wesenham and John Dawes , by a charter of theirs, shown to the jurors, dated at Hunstanton on 14 July 1430, to him and Alice and the heirs of their bodies, remainder to his right heirs. The charter described him as John le Straunge of Hunstanton, esquire , and the manor as the manor of Hunstanton, with all its members and possessions whatsoever, with all knights’ fees belonging to it, without anything being reserved.
Hunstanton, the manor, annual value £20, held of the earl of Arundel as 1/2 knight’s fee.
