He held the following in demesne as of fee tail, viz., to him and the heirs of his body, by virtue of a grant by William Croos, clerk , and John, son of Hugh Talmage , grandfather of the John Talmage named in the writ, whose heir he was, viz., son of Richard his son.
Bentley, the manor, true annual value 10 marks, held of the king in chief as 1/2 knight’s fee.

He died on 23 February last. John Talmage is both kin and heir of John Talmage named in the writ, viz., son of Richard, brother of John, because he died without an heir of his body, and kin and next heir of the body of the said John, son of Hugh, viz., son of Richard, son of Richard, son of John, son of Hugh. He was aged 17 years on 6 December last. The marriage of the heir does not belong to the king because John the heir married a certain Isabel, still living, while John Talmage named in the writ was alive.
