JOHN, SON OF WILLIAM DE LA VILLE

Holdings

The jurors say that John was born at Letheringsett and baptised in the church of that vill, and was aged 21 years on 17 June last. They know because of the following recollections of the day of John’s birth. Robert Bouiour , aged 50 years and more, espoused Margaret, daughter of Richard Hull . Henry Bartelmewe , 52 years and more, buried Joan his wife in the church. Robert Heckere , 48 years and more, had a son named William baptised in the font in which John was baptised. William Frary , 60 years and more, says John Frenge, chaplain , celebrated his first mass in the church. Thomas Banyard , 54 years and more, lost a son named Robert in a cess-pit (puteus) in his garden (orto). John Cook , 49 years and more, says Margaret his daughter was married to William S...gth. Nicholas Kenell , 55 years and more, buried John Kenell his father in the church. William Wotton , 53 years and more, says there was such a strong wind that the bell-tower of Cawston church was thrown to the ground. Richard Carleton , 47 years and more, says the parish church of Litcham was consecrated anew by the bishop of Norwich . Richard Bosse , 56 years and more, erected a new barn in Buckenham. Edmund Caly , 67 years and more, says Joan his wife was buried in the church of St Andrew of Trowse. Richard Baker , 51 years and more, met Margaret Redell , midwife, carrying John to Letheringsett church for baptism in the font.
