[Proof: ms largely torn away and missing.] John Thorndon , aged 57 years and more, sworn and examined on the age of John Veel , son, swears that he was born at Charfield, baptised in the church there, and was 22 years of age and more on 25 March last. He knows because he carried a torch in front of John from the manor of Charfield to the church on the day that John was baptised, and held it during the baptism. John Stafford , 55 and more, was in the church when John Veel was baptised and saw John Grevell , godfather, give him a silver goblet with a cover immediately afterwards and 6s. 8d. to the nurse.
