Holdings
He held no lands or tenements of ‪ Henry V in demesne or service. He held the following in demesne as of fee simple of Lord Mauley but held no more, nor other, lands or tenements of Lord Mauley or any other in demesne or service.
Cranswick, the manor, held of Lord Mauley , service unknown. There is the site, worth nothing yearly; a messuage, worth 3s. 4d. yearly; 5 tofts, each worth 3s. yearly; a waste toft, worth 6d. yearly; 8 bovates of demesne land, each bovate worth 3s. yearly; another bovate, worth 3s. 4d. yearly; 10 a. meadow, each acre worth 8d. yearly; 20 a. pasture, each acre worth 4d. yearly; 20 a. wood, worth nothing yearly because the wood encloses and protects the manorial site; 18d. rent service from 3 tofts in Hutton Cranswick, pertaining to the manor, taken yearly at Pentecost and Martinmas by equal parts.

He died on 22 March 1421. John Godard was then his kin and next heir, as the son of John Godard, chevalier , brother of Henry, and aged 4 and more. John son of John died on 23 August 1430 and, after his death, the manor was taken into the hands of ‪ Henry VI by John Thwaytes, escheator , and is still there. Agnes wife of Brian Stapilton, knight , Maud wife of Robert Waddesley, esquire, and Robert Ughtred, chevalier , are kin and next heirs of John son of John. Agnes is one of the sisters of John Godard, chevalier , father of John son of John, Maud is another of John Godard ’s sisters, and Robert Ughtred is son of Margaret, his third sister. Each is aged 24 and more.

Isabel, wife of Richard Curson and lately wife of John Godard, chevalier , mother of John son of John, occupied the manor and took its issues from the time of Henry’s death, as guardian of John son of John, until she married Richard Curson . Richard Curson then occupied the manor and took its issues as husband of Isabel until 23 August 1430 when John son of John died.
