Regarding his inheritance as son of Thomas de Dale son of Thomas de Dale, chevalier , and Sibyl lately wife of Thomas de Dale, chevalier , who held certain lands from his inheritance for life. The lands and tenements are in the custody of John Tiptoft, knight , by demise of William Burghchier, knight , to whom Henry V had committed the lands and tenements thus held by Sibyl by letters patent [CFR 1413–1422, p. 146]. Inform John of the forthcoming proof of age.

[Dorse:] John Tiptoft, knight , was informed by Thomas Cukhook and John Hampstede , but did not attend. Date and place of proof given.

William Mopetyd , 60 and more, says that Thomas is aged 21 and more, was born at Tattingstone, and baptised in the church there on 23 April 1409. His godfathers were Thomas Doget, rector of Lawford , and Thomas Runtynge, rector of Woolverstone , and his godmother was Elizabeth Wolferston . William was sent by Thomas son of Thomas to inspect the furnishings in the church on the day of the birth and to report back his findings. He found the high altar hung with ten, gold cloths, and the font suitably decorated with ten, white, silken cloths. While there, he spoke with John Payn, servant of Thomas son of Thomas, who told him that all was ready for the baptism. Robert Deye , 51 and more, betrothed Alice his wife on the day of the birth and married her in Tattingstone church on the following Sunday. Robert Florete , 52 and more, spoke to Richard Walles, parish priest of Tattingstone , at Tattingstone, who told him that Thomas was born and baptised. John Lodbrook , 49 and more, says that Richard his first-born son was born and baptised at Tattingstone on the same day. Richard Darcy and John Byrne stood as godfathers. John Busshopp , 60 and more, says that Richard Barton paid homage to Thomas Wolferston for a tenement in Tattingstone. He had made a letter of homage. Thomas Gravener , 46 and more, purchased a messuage in Tattingstone from John Newman for 20 marks, payable at Easter then next following. Richard Baldewyn , 47 and more, says that John Wymersley , then king’s bailiff travelling in Suffolk, arrested Thomas Norham, butcher , at Tattingstone for felony by virtue of a warrant from the sheriff, as he claimed. Roger More , 53 and more, went with Richard Malbys of Tattingstone to Holbrook park to see the cut ashes there. He bought twenty from John Purcas , the keeper, who told them about Thomas’s baptism. Geoffrey Adgore , 45 and more, says that Joan his daughter was buried in the church of Tattingstone. Thomas Cosyn , 46 and more, bought 40 heifers from John Selby for 40 marks, payable at Easter then next following at Tattingstone. He then gave John 1d. arrears and 1d. in cash. Thomas Heyward , 53 and more, apprenticed Henry his son to William Swandon of Colchester, ‘peutrer’. He delivered 10 marks in money to William, to invest in merchandise and then to release half the profits at the end of a year. John Cukhook , 44 and more, was retained for life by Gilbert Debenham as butler, taking 5 marks yearly and 2 gowns in valet’s livery.
