Regarding his inheritance as son of John Calthorp, knight , son of William Calthorp , chevalier, who held of ‪ Henry V in chief. The lands and tenements are in the custody of Robert de Willughby, knight , and Anne who was wife of William Bowet of Wrentham, knight , by commission of Henry V [CPR 1416–1422, p. 340]. Inform Robert and Anne of the forthcoming proof of age.

[Dorse:] Robert and Anne were informed by Thomas Feltwell , John Bacon , Thomas Pye , and John Ram .

NORFOLK. Proof of age [indented]. East Rudham 27 February 1431. [Galyen].

John Gunnolf , x[...]vj years [hole in ms], swears that William is aged 21 and more, and was so on 1 February last. He was born at Burnham Thorpe and baptised in the church of All Saints there. John knows because, on the day of William’s birth, Adam Blak, chaplain , celebrated his first mass in that church after ordination as a priest. Hugh Halle , 40, knows because Nicholas his father was buried in the churchyard there. Thomas Gloys , 50 and more, knows because Alice mother of Thomas was buried in Wighton churchyard. John Jegge , 33 and more, carried the basin and ewer to the church and gave water to William’s godmother and godfather. He saw William raised from the font. Thomas Jegge , 38 and more, knows because Henry Coffe , villein of William Calthorp , was born and then baptised in the same font. Roger Goldham , 44 and more, was sent to Holkham to fetch Richard Prat,n097 chaplain, for the baptism of William. Richard baptised William on the same day in the presence of Roger Goldham . Robert Gloys , 40 and more, knows because John Gloys, chaplain and brother of Robert, held the book at the church door at the time of William’s baptism. Robert Gloys was present. John Goldhale , 60 and more, carried a lit torch before William to the church. John Norton , 55 and more, knows because Maud daughter of John married Richard Holt . Richard Gardell , 44 and more, knows because Ellen his daughter was born. Robert Stowe , 46 and more, knows because he married Agnes on the Monday before the birth. William Chapell , 49 and more, knows because Joan his wife was the midwife and carried William to the church for baptism.
