Regarding inheritance as son of Walter Sandes and Agnes his late wife, daughter of Thomas Warner and Joan his late wife, and as kinsman and heir of Thomas Warner and Joan. Walter Sandes , the father, to be informed. He had custody of the late Thomas Warner ’s manors of Ashley and Preston Candover by letters patent of ‪Henry IV [CFR 1405–13, p.117]. [Dorse:] Walter Sandes informed by John Spore and Thomas Holton and attended.

HAMPSHIRE. Proof of age. Andover. 19 November 1425. [Fauconer]

[The ms is generally worn, faint and soiled.] The jurors say that Thomas was born at Andover and baptised in that vill’s church and was aged 23 years on 29 June last. They know for the following recollections. John Schopper , aged 80 years and more, married Joan, now deceased, the same day that Thomas was born and baptised. Henry Wallop , 79 years and more, says that Robert his son celebrated his first mass after he was made priest in the same church the day that Thomas was born. Robert Lylye , 71 years and more, says that his ship loaded with various merchandise was destroyed [at sea] by a sudden... the day that Thomas was born. John Eboyrigton , 75 years and more, says that his granary, ?except for various grains in it,... burned down the day that Thomas was born. John Crucheman , 84 years and more, says that William his son [died] the day that Thomas was born, after a long illness. Thomas Dowte , 77 years and more, was then parish clerk of the same church... priest at the time Thomas Sandes was baptised. John [?Robus], 72 years and more, says that there was such a strong wind the day that Thomas was born that John and other men of the vill feared the weaker of their houses would collapse. William Loket , 70 years and more, says that Joan his wife gave birth to a son named Gilbert the day that Thomas was born. Thomas Tylly , 73 years and more, gave the godfathers and godmother water to wash their hands immediately after Thomas Sandes was baptised. John Park, 78 years and more, was sent to get Alice Norman to be Thomas’s wet-nurse the day that Thomas was born. John ?Forte, 76 years and more, carried two silver pots of wine to...[the church] for the godfathers and godmother and bystanders to drink immediately after Thomas was baptised. Ralph Nayle , 74 years and more, saw... godfather of Thomas, give Thomas 6s. 8d. immediately after he was baptised.
