She died seised of the messuage, croft and land on 22 April 1421. The messuage, croft and land are held of the king in chief by knight service as part of the lordship of Holderness, annual value 10s. Isabel wife of William Holme of Beverley, daughter of Joan is her next heir, aged 44 years and more at the time of Joan’s death.
Lord Robert de Scorburgh of Beverley, knight , long after the statute of mortmain, without royal licence gave John de Nafferton, chaplain , and his successors as chaplains of the chapel of Corpus Christi founded in Beverley, 6 marks annual rent from all his lands and tenements in Beverley to celebrate mass for the souls of Robert and Maud his consort. William Cokerell of Beverley, ‘Gentilman’, took this rent for the 10 years before this inquisition.
