He was seised of the following in his demesne as of fee simple: the manors of Kirkhaugh, annual value £15, and Darras Hall, annual value 30s.; the townships of Berwick Hill, annual value £10, High or Little Callerton, annual value 30s., Throphill, annual value 100s., Newton Underwood, annual value 100s., and 1/5 township of Benridge, annual value 12s.; and the park and water-mill of Mitford, annual value 60s. All are held in socage of Henry Percy of Atholl, knight , of his lordship of Mitford, rendering a barbed arrow on the feast of [the Nativity of] St. John the Baptist; the township of Lynemouth, annual value 40s., held of the earl of Westmorland of his lordship of Bywell , service unknown. He was seised of the following in his demesne as of fee: 12 burgages and 80 a. arable in Mitford, annual value 40s., the burgages held of Henry Percy of his lordship of Mitford in burgage, the 80 a. of the same lord for a service unknown; 1/2 township of Haydon, annual value 13s. 4d., held of the lord of Ellington , service unknown. Aymer de Valence, knight , was seised of the manor, township and forest of Felton in his demesne as of fee and, so seised, married Mary. After his death they ought to have descended to David Strabolgi, earl of Atholl , as his kinsman and heir, i.e. son of David Strabolgy son of Joan daughter of Joan sister and one of the heirs of Aymer, but were among lands and tenements assigned in dower to Mary. By his charter shown to the jurors in evidence David, earl of Atholl , granted the reversion to his uncle Aymer de Athell, knight , who by deed shown to the jurors conveyed it to Arnold Pynknee, clerk , Richard de Tytynsale, clerk , and Thomas de Ingilby, vicar of Bywell St. Andrew or St. Peter . By their charter shown to the jurors they regranted it to Aymer, his wife Mary and the heirs male of Aymer, with the following reversions: to Aymer's daughter Isabel and her husband Ralph de Euere in tail male, to the heirs male of Isabel, to Robert de Isle, knight , and his wife Mary in tail male, remainder as to one moiety to the heirs of the bodies of Ralph and Isabel and as to the other to those of Robert and Mary, ultimate remainder of each moiety to the other couple if either die without heirs of their bodies. The countess attorned to Aymer de Athell and entered the manor, township and forest. Isabel wife of Ralph died without heir male. Aymer died seised without heir male. By virtue of the reversion Ralph entered the manor, township and forest, held in fee tail for life and died seised. Mary wife of Robert de Isle, knight , died and so the manor, township and forest descended to Robert and his heirs male in fee simple. There are in the manor, township and forest: a capital messuage and garden, annual value 2s.; 240 a. demesne arable worth yearly 4d. an acre; 40 a. meadow worth yearly 16d. an acre; a water-mill, annual value 20s.; a furnace, annual value 3s.; 6 cottages worth yearly 6d. each; a close called `Felton park', the herbage of which is worth only 10s. without being wasted; a pasture called `Felton forest', annual value of the agistment only 6s.; various free tenants who hold in burgage in Felton by fealty and suit at 3 principal courts there and render 20s. yearly; a messuage and 10 a. arable formerly held by Henry de Strother of the lord of Felton by homage, fealty and 3s. 4d. yearly at Whitsun and the Nativity of St. John the Baptist equally; a messuage and 12 a. arable formerly held by the same Henry of the lord of Felton by service of enclosing part of the park of Felton in proportion to the size of his holding; a messuage held of the lord of Felton by fealty and render of 1 lb. cumin at the usual terms. The manor, township and forest are held of the king in chief as part of the lordship of Mitford for 1/2 knight's fee.
