JOHN SON AND HEIR OF ROBERT SHARDELOWE, KNIGHT

Cambridgeshire. Proof of age. Fulbourn. 12 Sept. [Grace].
John Nedyrstrete , 60, says that John was born at Fulbourn and baptized in the church of All Saints there on 7 March 1399. He saw John raised from the font and therefore knows that he was 21 years old on 7 March last. Robert Wryght , 59, went to Cambridge on that day to ask John Langham, clerk , to be one of the godfathers. John Taillour , 57, rode to Babraham to ask John Stevenes, clerk , to be the other godfather. William Cadewold , 56, was sent to ask Parnel wife of William Fulburn of Fulbourn to be John's godmother. Thomas Hardeley , 54, had a son called William baptized in the church on the same day. William Baugulf , 54, says that his brother Richard was buried in the churchyard on the same day. John Mason , 52, says that his sister Alice was buried in the church on the same day. John Grevyll , 50, attended the court of Lord Burnell at Fulbourn. John Catesby , 49, enfeoffed John Saundres in 1 a. arable in Fulbourn. Robert Crowe , 48, carried a ewer and basin to the church for John's godparents for washing their hands. Thomas Whityng , 47, carried water to the font for John's baptism. Michael Moor , 42, was betrothed to Agnes daughter of John Grene of Fulbourn on that day.
