HENRY DE PLESYNGTON, KNIGHT

Lincolnshire. Proof of age. Stamford. 25 Jan. 1420. [Belwode].
The jurors, all of Stamford, say that Henry de Plesyngton, knight , brother and heir of Robert de Plesyngton , son and heir of Robert de Plesyngton , was born at Stamford on 25 March 1397 and baptized in St. Michael's church there, and this they know for the following reasons: Henry Cok , aged 43, raised Henry from the font. William Palfray , 44, had a daughter Agnes born that day. Robert Litster , 45, completed his apprenticeship with John Litster of Stamford at the following Easter. John Whitsyde , 43, on 31 Oct. 1396 married his wife Alice. Roger Barbour , 46, was shaving Robert the father at the time of the baptism. John Leche , 44, had a son Thomas born that day. John Upton , 47, was playing football that day at the place called the `Old Bull Pyt' and was there told of the birth. John Gowdon , 49, was taken by Thomas Plesyngton to see Henry in his cradle in his father's house. Robert Bendowe , 43, rode to Burley that day to ask Robert de Belton, vicar of Burley , to come and raise Henry from the font. Thomas Broune , 48, that day took to farm the manor of Pilsgate in Northamptonshire. Andrew Draper , 46, sold Robert the father 3 yards of russet cloth (virgatas de ruceto nigro) that day. Peter Glasier , 51, glazed a window in the east part of St Michael's church on the Monday after the baptism by order of Robert the father.
