148 Writ for proof of age. ‡ 6 June 1418. [Wymbyssh]. Teste John, duke of Bedford.

He claims to have been born and baptized at Hasfeld in Gloucestershire, and by grant from Robert Whityngton, Guy Whityngton and Thomas Kemle, to whom John Brounyng's lands were granted by Henry V is in the ward of William Stoughton, Edward Brugge and Robert Brugge, who should be warned. Endorsed: they were warned to appear at Tewkesbury on 27 June 1418, by Phillip Huke, William Soke and Richard More, but did not come, in person or by attorney.

[The entire document is badly galled.] The jurors said that Giles was born at Hasfield on 21 Dec. 1396 and was baptized in the church there on the same day. They remember because: [The first juror's name and evidence are wholly illegible. John Pole,... Thomas Whi...,... William T…, aged 4.. years … William Russell, aged 48 years, says his son Richard fell in a pit and was drowned that day. William Palcok, aged 49 years, says his mother Alice died that day. Roger Dye, aged 45 years, says a barn of William brother of...... of ?Caynley in the vill of Hasfield was accidentally burnt.
