Holdings
Lewis Grevyll and Richard Mikelton, clerk , were lately seised of the following in demesne as of fee. By indented charter, dated at King’s Bromley, 10 May 1426, they granted the manor to John Greyvll of Gloucestershire, esquire , for the term of his life, without impeachment of waste, with remainder to Guy Corbet of Suffolk, esquire , and his heirs and assigns. One part of the indenture, sealed with the seals of Lewis and Richard, was shown to the jurors. By virtue of the grant John was seised in demesne as of free tenement. Afterwards Henry VI, for 2 marks paid in the hanaper, by letters patent dated at Westminster, 12 July 1426, pardoned John’s trespass in entering the manor without royal licence, and granted that the manor could by held for life with the above remainder without impediment of the king or his ministers [CPR 1422–29, pp. 350–1]. An exemplification of the letters patent under the Great Seal was shown to the jurors. John continued in his estate for his whole life. Guy died; afterwards John died seised as above.
Date of death and heir as 304. Robert Corbet is the son and next heir of Guy by virtue of the above remainder, n145 aged 24 and more. The manor ought to remain to Robert Corbet by form of the above grant.
