Holdings

He did not hold any lands or tenements in demesne as of fee or in service of the king in chief. He died seised of the following manor in demesne as of fee.

Woodhall in Kelshall, the manor, held from Philip, lately bishop of Ely , as of his bishopric of Ely, by knight service. After Philip’s death the temporalities of the bishopric went into the hand of the king, where they were when John died seised of the manor, and they remain there now. There is a manorial site, worth 12d. a year in herbage; 80 a. arable, each acre worth 4d. yearly; 100 a. pasture, each acre worth 1d. yearly; 44s. assize rent from free tenants, payable at Easter and Michaelmas equally; and 56s. rent from tenants-at-will, payable as above.

He died on 21 September last. John, his son and next heir, is aged 5 years and more.
