He held the following manor and advowson for life, as follows. Richard Holt, clerk , brother and heir of Hugh Holt, esquire , of Northamptonshire, was lately seised of the manor and advowson in demesne as of fee, which, by a charter of his dated on 11 December 1420 he gave to Robert Babthorp, knight , for life, successive remainders to Ralph Babthorp and Katherine his wife and the heirs of their bodies, and the right heirs of Robert Babthorp, knight . The king’s licence was not initially obtained, but Robert Babthorp subsequently obtained a pardon from Henry VI by letters patent dated on 20 July 1423 for his part in entering without this licence, which letters patent also conceded that Robert could hold the manor and advowson for life from the king and his heirs by due services, remainder wholly to Ralph and Katherine as above, to hold likewise [CPR 1422–29, p. 65].
He died on 22 August last. Ralph Babthorp , his son and next heir of his body, is aged 38 years and more.
