Regarding his inheritance as son of John Veel , who held lands and tenements as 1/2 knight’s fee of Richard, late Lord le Despenser. Lord le Despenser was in the wardship of ‪ Henry IV . Teste: Humphrey of Lancaster, duke of Gloucester .

Holdings

John Thorndon , aged 57 years and more, sworn and examined on the age of John Veel , son, swears that he was born at Charfield, baptised in the church there, and was 22 years of age and more on 25 March last. He knows because he carried a torch in front of John from the manor of Charfield to the church on the day that John was baptised, and held it during the baptism. John Stafford , 55 and more, was in the church when John Veel was baptised and saw John Grevell , godfather, give him a silver goblet with a cover immediately afterwards and 6s. 8d. to the nurse. John Kyngton ,78 [aged ?60] years, and more, says that William Kyngton , son of the said John Kyngton , was born. Philip Fermer , 60 years and more, says Robert his son celebrated his first mass in the church. John Felde , 62 years and more, carried a basin and ewer from the said manor to the church to provide water to the godfathers and godmother to wash their hands after he was raised from the font. John Seymour , 49 years and more, married Katherine his daughter to John Pynchepole in the church. Edward Benet , 44 years and more, was in the service of John Veel the father, in the office of his butler, and carried a silver pot of wine to church to serve the godfathers and godmother after John Veel the son was baptised. Richard Williams , 70 years and more, was present and saw John Blount , godfather, give John Veel the son a piece of plate with a lid and his nurse 6s. 8d. Walter Dore , 53 years and more, says William his son was born and baptised. John Born , 60 years and more, held a torch in the church while John Veel the son was baptised. Thomas Reome , 54 years and more, says Elizabeth his mother was godmother to John Veel the son and he was present with her. John Motsont , 64 years and more, met the godfathers and godmother going to church and they told him of John Veel ’s birth, to his great joy.
