ELEANOR WIDOW OF JOHN TERYNGHAM

Regarding CIPM XX no. 339, an inquisition taken in 1416. It is now known that she did hold various lands and tenements. Inquire after them.

Holdings

She held no lands or tenements of ‪ Henry V in chief in demesne or service, but held the following of the abbot of Ramsey in demesne as of fee tail by a fine levied at Westminster on the octave of Martinmas 1408 [CP 25/1/6/74 no. 28].

Farndish, the manor with advowson, held of the abbot of Ramsey as 1/2 knight’s fee.
John Prikke, parson of Tyringham , Robert atte Forde , and John James of Olney, quer., granted the manor and advowson to John Teryngham and Eleanor his wife, deforc., and to the heirs of their bodies. John died with Eleanor still alive. She continued in her estate for life and died so seised. She held the following in demesne as of fee.
Hinwick, the manor, annual value 40s., held of Reynold Grey, lord of Ruthin, by rendering a hawk at the feast of St James.
Pavenham, ½ manor, annual value 40s., held of Lord Latimer by suit (unicam sectam) at his court on the day of St Paul’s conversion at the manor of Dilwick.
Harrold, ¼ virgate, annual value 13s. 4d., held of Reynold Grey, lord of Ruthin , by rendering a red rose at Midsummer.

She died on 20 January 1425. John Teryngham , her son and next heir, is aged 21 and more.
