John Horsy, esquire , was seised of the manor of Charlton Mackrell and the advowson of the church and chapel there in demesne as of fee. By his charter shown to the jurors and by royal licence also shown to the jurors [CPR 1413–1416, p. 349], he granted them, among other things, to William his son and Joan wife of William, and to the heirs of their bodies, with reversion to John Horsy and his heirs. William died without heir of his body by Joan; and Joan continued in her estate. John Horsy then died and the reversion descended to Henry Horsy as son and heir of John. Joan, thus seised, afterwards married John Trethek . They assigned a third of the manor, by metes and bounds, in dower to Alice widow of John Horsy, still living. Joan died seised of 2/3 manor without heir of her body by William. She had thus held the two-thirds for life from the inheritance of Henry brother and heir of William and son and heir of John.TNA reference
