AGNES WIFE OF THOMAS TEMSE

Regarding her inheritance as daughter of Alice daughter of John Levesham who held of ‪ Henry V in chief. The lands and tenements were lately in the custody of John Fresthorp , now deceased, by commission of ‪ Henry V [CFR 1413–1422, pp. 279, 343]. Inform the executors of the forthcoming proof of age.

[Proof: ms torn at top left.] John Ingram , 64 and more, swears that she was aged 15 on 21 October last. She was born at Salisbury and baptised in the baptistry of the church of St Edmund there on 6 October 1411. Her godfather was John Lokwode and her godmother was Joan lately wife of Walter Sirle . He was seneschal to John Levesham and held his courts. He was at Salisbury in the church of St Edmund , while Agnes was baptised, in order to communicate with John Levesham , but was so stricken by fever that he barely survived. On 6 October, 15 years had passed since then. Thomas Stokke , 56 and more, had long been servant to William Sturmy . Riding out on William’s business at Salisbury, he was thrown by his horse into the middle of the market-place and broke his left arm. Nicholas Swan , 54 and more, married Amice, still his wife, in the same church. John Hethewolf , 56 and more, says that William Hethewolf , his uncle, celebrated his first mass in the same church. William Hethe , 48 and more, buried Richard Hethe , his father, in the churchyard of St Edmund ’s church. Walter Bakham , 52 and more, apprenticed John his son to Walter Sherle , merchant, in Salisbury to teach him trade. Richard Partryg , 60 and more, says that, for lack of good care, Alice his wife died in childbirth along with the child on the same day at Salisbury. Thomas Hankoc , 52 and more, says that his grange at Salisbury suddenly caught fire. John Westun , 43 and more, says that Katherine his daughter, staying at Salisbury with John Spencer , married Richard Fayrehere in the same church. Simon Wodehowse , 49 and more, says that William his son, studying at Salisbury, had his right eye torn out by one of his associates in an argument. John Merdene , 43 and more, says that Nicholas, his first-born son, born long before to him and Joan his wife at Stratford sub Castle or Stratford Tony (Stratford), was sent to Salisbury on that day to be confirmed by the bishop. He died there. John Quarle , 44 and more, fell from his cart at Salisbury and broke his right shin.
