John Harewell, bishop of Bath and Wells , was formerly seised in his demesne as of fee of the manor of Nether Weare and granted it to John de Kendale or John Kendale , his wife Isabel and the heirs of their bodies. John and Isabel were seised and had issue John named in the writ. After the deaths of John the father and Isabel the manor descended to John named in the writ and because of his minority was taken into the hand of Henry IV . When he came of age he was put into possession by the king's writ and enjoyed peacable possession until expelled by Philip Hampton . John re-entered and removed Philip but was again dispossessed by him. John claimed the manor at the time of his death. It was held of the king in chief by knight service, annual value 60s. John Wyke of Nynehead was formerly seised of the manors of Nynehead and Withiel Florey in his demesne as of fee and granted them to John Grene , John Waryn , William Spryng, vicar of Nynehead , and Hugh Seman, clerk , to enfeoff John Kendale , his wife Isabel and the heirs of their bodies, remainder to the right heirs of John Wyke . The feoffees were seised and enfeoffed John and Isabel, who were seised in their demesne as of fee tail. So seised, they demised the manors to John Wyke and his wife Joan. After Joan's death, John Wyke married Katharine daughter of William Bonevile, knight , and granted the manors to John Grene , William Spyryng , Hugh Seman and John Walrond so that they might regrant them to John and Katharine and so disinherit John Kendale and Isabel. John Kendale maintained his claim and continued in possession but was afterwards forcibly expelled by John Wyke . After the death of John Kendale the father, Isabel married William Lenthorp , who entered in her right but was expelled by John Wyke . After William's death, Isabel married John Wyneford , who also entered in her right and was expelled. John Wyneford died and after Isabel's death the manors descended to John Kendale named in the writ, a minor in the wardship of Henry IV , who by letters patent [not found] committed the keeping of them to Robert Threske, clerk , until John came of age. John Wyke died, and Katharine married Humphrey Stafford, esquire . John Kendale named in the writ married Joan daughter of Thomas Beauchamp, knight , and had issue John Kendale , who survives. John husband of Joan came of age and was heir in tail of John and Isabel. He entered, but was dispossessed by Humphrey and Katharine. Katharine died, and John Kendale named in the writ entered and continued in possession until Robert Wyke , who survives, dispossessed him. John re-entered and continued in possession until he went overseas in the king's service and died. The manors of Nynehead, annual value £30, and Withiel Florey, annual value 10 marks, are held of the bishop of Winchester of his manor of Taunton , service unknown.
He died on 15 August last. John Kendale , his son by his wife Joan, daughter of Thomas Beauchamp, knight , is his next heir, aged 8 years and more.
