The manor of Great Snoring, annual value £23 6s. 8d., and the advowson of the church are held of William Bardolf for 20s. yearly; the manor of Thursford and the advowson of the church are worth yearly 66s. 8d.; the manor of Shelton called `Overhall', annual value 10 marks, is held of the Earl Marshal , service unknown; and the manor of Shelton called `Netherhall', annual value 100s., is held of John Clifton, knight , service unknown. Of whom the lands and tenements in Hardwick, annual value 33s. 4d., and the advowson of Hard- wick, are held is unknown. Annual values of the churches: Great Snoring, £20; Thursford, £10; and Hardwick 10 marks. He formerly held in demesne as of fee the manor of Kerdiston called `Burgoliones' and by his charter shown to the jurors, as William son and heir of Ralph Shelton, knight , granted it to the feoffees named above to hold to the uses of his will. By his last will, also shown to the jurors, he devised the issues of the manor to them for payment of his debts and legacies that could not be met from his goods and chattels. If John Shelton or others impeded the feoffees they were to sell the manor for the best price and to apply the proceeds in pious uses for William and his ancestors, provided always that they make a deed to William's bastard daughter Amice of 40s. yearly from the manor for life with power of distraint for arrears.
