ISABEL WIDOW OF JOHN KIRKHAM

She died holding lands by knight service of the bishopric of Exeter, late in the king's hand.

Holdings

William Hankeford, knight , Henry Fuleford , John Gambon junior and John Dabernon were formerly seised in demesne as of fee of the following and granted them to John Kirkham , Isabel named in the writ, and the heirs of John. John died and Isabel entered and held of the bishopric of Exeter. After her death the lands reverted to William Kirkham , deceased, a minor, and brother of John named in the writ, and then to William's brother Robert Kirkham , who survives. The lands are now in the king's hand because Robert is a minor.

Blagdon, Yalberton and Collaton St. Mary, 7 messuages and a grange, worth nothing yearly; a garden, worth 20d. yearly; a dovecot, worth 20d. yearly; 5 carucates, held by various tenants at will who pay 86s. 8d. yearly at Easter, the Nativity of St. John the Baptist, Michaelmas and Christmas in equal portions; 4 a. meadow; 100 a. rough pasture; and 60s. yearly rent. All held of the bishopric of Exeter

Isabel died on 25 April 1419. Hugh Champarnon , aged 3 years and more and in the king's wardship, is her kinsman and next heir, i.e. son of her brother Richard Champarnon .
