Stokeinteignhead, the manor, of Hugh Courtenay, earl of Devon , by knight service of the honor of Plympton, in the king's hand owing to the death of Edward, earl of Devon , father of Hugh, annual value £12;
Ashleigh, the manor, of James Tremayn of his manor of Marytavy, service unknown, annual value 60s.;
`Overaspry' and `Netheraspry', 40s. rent payable by equal parts at Easter and Michaelmas, of Edmund, earl of March , service unknown.

He died on 18 Jan. last. The infant in the womb of Emma his wife is next heir if God gives it birth. Otherwise Thomas his brother, aged 18 years and more.

Holdings

He held the manor of Stokeinteignhead to him and his heirs and assigns forever. There are 4 free tenants there who hold 4 tenements by knight service to them and their heirs forever, paying 1d. each at Michaelmas; John Cleffod holds similarly in the same manor a tenement for 2s. rent yearly, at Midsummer, Michaelmas, Christmas and Easter; Walter B..e.. holds similarly for 36s. 4d. rent, at the same four terms; John Boterell holds similarly a tenement by knight service for 8s. 8d. yearly, at the same four terms. There are also in the manor 26 tenants at will holding 26 messuages and 26 ferlings and each paying 6s. yearly, at the same four terms, and each paying an aid of 12d. at Michaelmas by ancient custom. The pleas of court with fines are worth 6s. 8d. yearly, after the steward's fee and expenses. There is also a water-mill with a leat, annual value nil because dilapidated; it ought to pay 6s. yearly.
There is nothing else in demesne, as appears by the extent, but there are divers free tenants who severally hold 6 1/3 knight’s fees of the same manor by knight service and suit of court, to them and their heirs forever, viz John Dynham, chevalier , 1 fee in ‘Akle‘; John Cl[iffor]d , 1 fee in Rocombe Hugh ; Thomas Lerchedeakene , 1 fee in Buckland in the Moor ; John Forde and William Wyndete , 1 fee in Bagtor; John ?Lorty , William Truscott and Henry Vnderhille , 1 fee in Staplehill and Shute ; Walter Reynalle junior , ½ a fee in East Ogwell ; ?Walter ?Holeb[em]e ½ fee in Holbeam ; and John Hale , 1/3 fee in Charlecombe . He died on the last day of ?A... ?last.
The 40s. rent in ‘Overaspry’ and ‘Netheraspry’ payable at Easter and Michaelmas, he holds in fee simple, viz, to him and his heirs and assigns....
In the same manor of Ashleigh are 10 tenants who hold 10 messuages and 10 ferlings of land severally at the will of the lord according to the custom of the manor, each paying 6s. at Easter and Michaelmas.
