By letters patent of 12 March 1400, shown to the jurors, Henry IV granted to his esquire Ralph Ramsey the reversion of the crossing called St. Olave's ferry between Norfolk and Suffolk to hold for his life as did George Felbrygge, knight , who held for life [12 March 1400: CPR 1399-1401, p. 232]. Afterwards Felbrygge died and Ralph Ramsey held. By other letters patent dated 2 Oct. 1402 [CPR 1401-5, p. 159], reciting the earlier grant, the ferry was granted to Ralph Ramsey junior and his brother William, sons of Ralph Ramsey, esquire, to hold for their lives and the survivor of them. Ralph the father died seised of his life interest and the reversion or remainder belongs to his sons, who are still alive.
He died on 22 Jan. last. Ralph Ramsey junior is his heir, aged 28 years and more.
