Holdings
Long before her death she held the manor of South Hall in Rainham, the manor of Franks in Great Warley, the advowson of the free chapel of Rainham, and a tenement called Bridge House and 93 a. arable, 3 a. pasture and 2 a. 3 roods meadow in Upminster, by the grant of Thomas de Carleton , late citizen of London, and others to her and the heirs of John Payn , sometime her husband, with remainder to his right heirs. On 9 July 1416 she gave back the manors etc. to Anne, daughter and heir of John Payn . She held and took the profits for a long time before the death of Joan. She married John Godeston and had issue Robert. Anne died and John Godeston now holds for life by the courtesy of England.
She died on 27 Sept. 1418. Robert son of Anne, her daughter, is next heir, aged 18 years and more.
