Gilbert atte Chirche , aged 44 years, was in the church and held the book for the priest at the baptism.

Walter Moor , 62, came to the church that day and brought a wax candle to burn before the image of the Virgin Mary at the time of the baptism.

John Baltre, senior , 43, was in the church and made a footstool ( scabellum ) before the altar of the Virgin Mary at the time of the baptism.

William Sloman , 47, that day carried sand ( zabulum ) in his cart to the church at the time of the baptism.

Richard Sheryng , 60, was in the church. His wife Emma was godmother and he saw her holding John.

William Skynnere , 50, John Dawe , 52, John Sewat , 63, and William Dowble , 46, said separately that they were in the church and were asked by the father, Edmund, to bear witness to the age. On that day Gilbert atte Chirche granted by his deed to Richard Sheryng and Emma his wife and their heirs 1 a. in Epping. They were witnesses and the deed was read and shown to them.
