She held for life 1 messuage, 150 a. arable, 2 a. meadow, 4 a. wood and 10s. rent in Southoe, and £10 assize rents from the manor of Orton Waterville payable at the four terms by equal parts, by the grant of Ellis parson of Southoe and Richard Moigne, chaplain , in the time of Edward III to Joan and Edward Lovetoft and the heirs of Edward. They are held of the king in chief as a third part of a knight’s fee, annual value 20s., and after her death belong to Margaret wife of John Cheyne, knight , daughter and heir of Edward.
Robert Toweslond and John de Southo , chaplains, William Philyppot of Ashwell and Richard Fraunceys of Little Paxton held the manor of Boughton, and granted it to Joan and Simon Burgh, then her husband, for their lives with reversion to themselves. Robert Toweslond and the others granted the reversion to John Cheyne, knight , Margaret his wife, and their heirs, and failing them the right heirs of Margaret. Simon and Joan attorned to John and Margaret Cheyne, and so Joan held it for life with reversion to them. It is held of the king of the honour of Huntingdon as half a knight’s fee, annual value 30s.
