He held the castle and manor of Bothal jointly with Helen his wife by the grant of John Worth and Blanche his wife by a fine of 1387–8 [CP 25(1) 181/14, no. 25], to them and the heirs of their bodies, with remainder to the right heirs of Helen. Helen died without heirs of her body by him, and David died holding them of the king of the crown by the service of 3 knight’s fees in a barony [ in baronia ], rendering for cornage for the keeping of the castle of Newcastle upon Tyne 115s.4d. The annual values are: the castle nil, the manor 20 marks and no more these days because of the Scottish war and the king’s army lying there recently.
He died on 13 June. Robert de Ogle, knight , the son and heir of Helen, is aged 30 years and more.
The escheator has held them and taken the profits since his death.
