                           arrows or 8s. 4d. yearly at the sheriff’s proffer next after <date>Michaelmas</date></rs>. The manor has always been called and known by the name of the manor of <name type="manor" key="3041103">Rumbridge</name>, and also by the name of 24s. rent, because the manor was granted to <name type="person">

                        </name> – whose
heir <rs type="person">John</rs> was – and his heirs, for (<hi rend="italic">pro valore</hi>) an annual rent of 24s., and by the name of 24s. rent. <holdingExtent>In the manor there are 6 messuages, which from <rs type="person">John</rs>’s death have lain in decay, waste and ruinous, and were not and could not be demised at
farm, and so are worth nothing this year nor from the time of <rs type="person">John</rs>’s death; 30 a. land which since <rs type="person">John</rs>’s death has thorns growing everywhere, and so has lain


fallow (<hi rend="italic">frisc’</hi>), without tenant (<hi rend="italic">extra tenuram</hi>) and unoccupied, and could in no way be demised at farm; 24s. free rent payable at <date>Easter and Michaelmas</date> issuing from the lands and tenements of various free tenants; and a court baron held every three weeks, worth nothing yearly beyond the fee of <rs type="person">the steward</rs> holding the court.</holdingExtent> The manor, with the rent of 24s., is and has always been worth only 16s. yearly beyond the reprises and other burdens incumbent on it.</holding> <seg type="occupiers">Since <rs type="person">John</rs>’s death the sheriff has answered yearly for this 16s. in his account at the Exchequer, as is of record there.</seg>
